RPA's 10,000 Years Is Enough Campaign:
State by State, Help End the Teaching of Cruel and Polluting Factory Farming!

From March 31 to May 8, 2003, RPA sent a letter and RPA's factsheet 10,000 Years Is Enough: Time To Stop Teaching Animal Agriculture to the leaders of the 50 states' main land-grant universities.

We explained that all animal-industry and feedcrop jobs for which their schools prepare students amount to support for horrible factory-farming practices that make animals miserable, waste and contaminate soil and water, and harm human health. We asked them to work with RPA to end the teaching of animal agriculture, which is nothing like it was in 1862 when Congress first doled out public land to start the land-grant universities.

As of June 2003, several universities had replied. Their answers did not address any of the problems raised in RPA's letter and factsheet. Their answers and the other universities' silence speak volumes about the universities' inability to defend the teaching of animal agriculture. That was only the beginning of the discussion, though! RPA will work long and hard to end the teaching of animal agriculture that is corporate welfare for cruel animal industries!

Please see the list below and write to the university in your state, the university you attended (if any), universities you would consider applying to or sending your kids to if they would stop teaching animal agriculture. Any letter you send will help: Amazing as it may seem, some of the university presidents appear to be unaware of the huge animal-agribusiness problems! We'll be interested in any replies you may receive.
